Summer Camps

Spend Your Summer with Freed-Hardeman University!

This summer we invite you to experience Freed-Hardeman University (FHU). You, your friends and your youth group can experience the Christian leadership at Horizons. Our Lion and Lady Lion Athletic Camps are designed to help you improve your athletic skills while becoming a true Champion of Character. You can also be a part of a life-changing week at FHU’s longest running camp, Mid-South Youth Camp.

You’re invited to apply for the second annual Equip Ministry Camp, hosted by the College of Biblical Studies at Freed-Hardeman University. The camp will take place from Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, May 30, and is open to young men aged 13-19. The mission of the camp is to provide a learning environment for you to study the Word of God, prepare and present lessons, and enhance your ability to minister in a congregational setting. The camp, limited to 48 applicants, will include time with mentors, collaborative preparation for ministry and relationship-building activities. Upon approval, the camp fee for each student is $150. For more information, contact Doug Burleson, Director of Equip Ministry Camp, at dburleson@fhu.bramblettgrp.com.

Mid-South Youth Camp offers young people ages 8-18 years old the opportunity for swimming, hiking, playing sports, canoeing, fishing, making crafts and enjoying campfires. The camp also features Bible classes and devotional periods with opportunities for leadership development and spiritual growth.

Junior Camp, for ages 6-9 years old, is designed to help campers become familiar with the MSYC experience and build confidence to spend the night at camp. These campers have the opportunity for swimming, hiking, playing sports, making crafts and enjoying developing friendships that will last for years to come. Junior Camp also features Bible class and spiritual growth. This operates Monday-Thursday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm during the first six camp weeks.

All individuals (staff and campers) are being asked to carefully review the waiver and acknowledgement of responsibility and to bring a separate, signed, currently dated copy for each week he or she participates in camp.

Horizons is a week-long spiritual experience for Christian leaders who have completed grades 7 – 12 held each summer on the campus of Freed-Hardeman University.

It’s been an incredible 40 years of impacting young leaders, and the focus that created the program continues to this day as we try to intentionally create an encouraging environment that will equip and challenge young church leaders.
